When I arrive...
I usually arrive at bridal prep two hours before the wedding ceremony. Some brides choose to have their prep done at the wedding venue, others choose to do it at their home.
I check-in with the venues wedding co-ordinator who’ll advise me where the bridal prep is taking place. If the preparations are taking place at a family home, it’s just a case of knocking the door and introducing myself to whoever answers!
Candid & detail shots...
Bride (or groom) prep wedding photography focuses on capturing the moments before the wedding ceremony when the bride (or groom) is getting ready. It’s a special part of the wedding day that includes a mix of candid, emotional, and detailed shots.
Bridal Party...
I love to capture candid interactions with bridesmaids, such as laughter, toasts, or shared moments of excitement.
Hair & Make-up...
I capture photos of the bride having her hair styled and makeup applied. These shots are often close-ups to capture the detail and artistry of the process.
All the details...
I like to capture the wedding dress hanging beautifully, the veil, shoes, jewellery, and other accessories. These are styled as artistic compositions.
Here come the boys...
On a day I am covering Bride prep - if the groom is getting ready at the same venue I like to leave the bride for a few minutes and get a few shots of the groom with his groomsmen.
Putting on the dress...
This is a significant moment, often involving the mother of the bride or bridesmaids helping the bride into her dress. I like to capture the emotions and reactions during this time.
Emotional moments...
with close family members, like a father seeing his daughter in her wedding dress for the first time.
Portraits...
Before the hustle of the day begins, I like to take some serene portraits of the bride alone, capturing her beauty and the tranquility before the ceremony.
Group shots...
Once everyone is ready, when possible, I like to capture Group photo's and images of the party heading off for the ceremony...
