I let the day happen & capture the moments...
I create luxury wedding photography that is cinematic, romantic & atmospheric, natural & candid,
I won’t ask you to pose excessively or look at the camera.
It’s all about capturing the real you!
Cinematic style wedding photography...
Like a film, cinematic wedding photography aims to tell a cohesive story, beginning with the preparations and leading through the key moments of the day. I focus on capturing the emotional journey of the couple and their loved ones, weaving a narrative throughout the images.
I capture all those little details...
To achieve a cinematic effect, I use a mix of wide-angle shots to capture the grandeur of the setting and close-ups to focus on intimate emotions and details. These varying perspectives give the images a dynamic, film-like quality.
Creative & Atmospheric detail shots...
I like to create atmosphere in my photographs by using purpose built lenses to focus on key elements in my shots. The lens blurrs out the background and focuses on the details.
Unplanned interactions...
I capture unplanned interactions, laughter, tears, and other heartfelt moments and the connections between family and friends that reflect the true spirit of the day. Like Rebecca here, her Mum fastening her dress and helping with jewellery and finally the veil.
Movement...
Cinematic photos often have a sense of movement. I acheive this by using my creative lenses. This adds energy and life to the images, resembling scenes from a movie.
Stunning Portraits...
I do direct my brides and grooms for some shots such as a portrait. Rebecca looking incredible on her wedding day here.
Document everything...
Even in the innevitable mad panic just before a ceremony I still get to capture beautiful moments such as Rebecca on the staircase, about to make her way to the church. A kiss for Mum and organising the bridesmaids.
A wedding is a fast paced day for a photographer...
Rebecca making her way to the church. These images are captured by me having to stay one step ahead of my subjects. My head on a swivel to capture real moments.
Discreet & Unobtrusive...
During a ceremony I like to take wide angle shots from the back of the venue. I usually stay at the back of the church moving closer at key moments in the ceremony on the ok from the Vicar or Registrar. I work discreetly, blending into the background to avoid disrupting the flow of events.
Rebecca's infectious smile...
Candid photography often conveys deeper emotions, making the images more relatable and impactful.
The first steps of the new Mr & Mrs...
Confetti shots...
This shot captures the moment when the newly married couple is showered with confetti by the wedding guests. It captures the fun, excitement, and emotion of the day.
Every detail tells a story...
Using my custom lens when capturing little details to create atmosphere.
Time for Champagne...
Letting my lenses capture the day. A mix of posed portraits and detail shots to really capture the atmosphere of the moment.
Venue shot... Bardney Hall
Romantic wedding photography often makes use of beautiful, scenic backgrounds—whether in nature (like gardens, beaches, or mountains) or in elegant, ornate venues such as Bardney Hall.
Spontanious moments...
Candid photography emphasizes spontaneous moments such as Rebecca & John exiting the car. Again I never ask my couples to 'stop - do that again' or set up my shots. I am just there ready to capture the moments.
Mingling...
Once at a venue I like to take candid images of my couple and their friends and family sharing a drink or a laugh.
Setting the scene...
I love a wide angle venue shot, they set the scene.
Confetti shot No2...
Rebecca & John had two lots of confetti for the guests to shower them with!
Group images...
My candid style takes a backseat in time for the group shots. All my couples request a few group images. I usually advise no more than 10-15 group shots as this time is always hard on my couples - as they have to stand still - no drinks or canapes - just smile... next ... smile... It's usually like hearding cats but we get them done! A lovely backdrop - no overhead sunlight... I like to get these images shot as quick as possible.
Every detail becomes part of the visual story...
The setting and atmosphere are crucial in cinematic photography. I like to emphasize not only the couple but also the environment, whether it's an outdoor landscape or an opulent indoor venue. Every detail—the architecture, natural light, and decor—becomes part of the visual story.
The wedding breakfast...
During the wedding breakfast and speeches I like to position myself in a great spot to capture wide shots of the room and I use my zoom lens to capture the close-ups.
Intimate emotions & details...
To achieve a cinematic effect, I use a mix of wide-angle shots to capture the grandeur of the setting and close-ups to focus on intimate emotions and details. These varying perspectives give the images a dynamic, film-like quality.
Cutting the cake...
The couple shots...
My favourite part of the day - the couple shots or newly-wed shots. Post-processing (editing) plays a key role in cinematic wedding photography. I often use colour grading techniques to achieve a moody or nostalgic look, similar to the tones used in movies. My tones are rich and vibrant, to acheive the desired mood.
Get creative...
I use a shallow depth of field to blur the background and make the couple stand out sharply, giving the image a more three-dimensional and immersive feel.
Affection, devotion & passion...
I guide my couples into natural, elegant positions that enhance the romantic feeling of the image. The goal is to convey a love story through the images. Capturing moments that express affection, devotion, and passion, often framing the couple in picturesque settings that reflect their personalities.
I adore black & white photographs...
Black and white photography removes any distraction of colour and helps the viewer focus on other aspects of the photo, such as the subject, the textures, shapes and patterns, and the composition.
Smoke bombs...
Using my favourite colour smoke bomb (white) we got some awesome shots of Rebecca & John.
Artistic wedding photographs...
Cinematic wedding photography is a storytelling approach that captures the wedding day with a movie-like, dramatic feel. This style focuses on creating visually striking and emotionally powerful images that evoke the grandeur and emotion of a cinematic production. It blends elements of both still photography and film aesthetics to create a highly artistic, narrative-driven collection of wedding photos.
Poetic & visually stunning...
Romantic wedding photography often makes use of beautiful, scenic backgrounds—whether in nature (like gardens, beaches, or mountains) or in elegant, ornate venues. I use props like flowing veils, delicate florals to enhance the romance.
In essence, romantic wedding photography aims to capture the fairytale aspect of a wedding day, highlighting the couple's love in a poetic, visually stunning way.
Romantic movie scene...
Portraits in this style are not just posed but often infused with deep emotion. The couple’s expressions, the way they look at each other, and their body language are captured in a way that feels like a romantic movie scene.
Energy & life... The First Dance...
When it's time for the dancing I set up my off camera flash and tripods to illuminate the dancefloor. I love to capture a sense of movement, with shots that capture the couple dancing. This adds energy and life to the images.
Rebecca & John's first dance...
I use techniques like silhouette lighting, soft glows, or high contrasts to create an intense, film-like atmosphere.
I get stuck in!
I love to capture images of my couple's dancing with their guests, meaning I have to get right into the thick of it on the dancefloor.
Perfect end to a perfect day...
After a quick outfit change for Rebecca, she & John posed for one last portrait for me in the early evening light.
Turing your wedding day images into a story...
My wedding photography blends a sense of grandeur with intimate moments, emphasizing both the spectacle and the emotions of the day. The overall feel is often dramatic and polished, with images resembling stills from a wedding movie.
In essence, wedding photography is about creating a visual experience that feels larger than life, turning your wedding day into a story that feels epic, romantic, and emotionally rich.
